The Smoke Free Illinois Act

Smoking will be prohibited by state law in every office, every store, every public place and within 15 feet of entrances, windows and air vents. It is your obligation that these places are all kept smoke-free.

If smoking is currently allowed, employees, store managers and customers must be made aware of the new law. Even if smoking is not currently allowed, signs must be posted in public places, including retail stores, making visitors aware of the law.

The Smoke Free Illinois Act includes several statutory and regulatory requirements. An overview of these requirements, the new Illinois code, and signs you may print and display in your places of business are available on IRMA’s website at www.irma.org.

If you need more information about The Smoke Free Illinois Act, please contact Rob Karr, IRMA Vice-President of Government and Member Relations at 217/544-1003. Information provided by Illinois Retail Merchants Association.
