St. Charles has a land area of 15.9 square miles. Located 35 miles west of downtown Chicago, the City is the center of Kane County, mid-way between Elgin and Aurora. State highways 25, 31, 38 and 64 cross St. Charles, as do county thoroughfares Randall and Kirk Roads.

Over 2,200 businesses employ over 34,200 people consisting of a balanced mix of retailers, restaurants, and manufacturing facilities, in addition to other goods and services. They are assisted by a vibrant Chamber of Commerce, a full-service Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the award-winning Downtown St. Charles Partnership.

St. Charles has been named one of the region’s “Top 10” cities by the ChicagoTribune and claims 1,269 hotel rooms, 3 shopping districts, 120 miles of bike paths in Kane County, a full service resort and spa, golf, live theater, convention center, world-class training/meeting facilities, and a welcoming business community. . . all making this picturesque city on the Fox River a destination for fine dining, arts and entertainment, recreational opportunites, and unique shopping.

The Charlestowne Mall retail district, Danada Medical Center, DuPage County Airport, and Pheasant Run Resort and Convention Center, surround a 715-acre Business Park on our east side.

Our Downtown is experiencing new business growth, facade improvements for existing businesses and anticipating the onset of one of the largest undertakings in the City’s history – the First Street Redevelopment Project. the most recent numbers reflect this development will add 100,000 s.f.of retail space, 100,000 s.f. of office space, 96 housing units, and two parking garages with a joint 610 car capacity.

To the west, our busy Randall Road corridor is home to the Kane County Fairgrounds, the Kane County Judicial Center, and retailers such as Meijer Superstore. Extensive retail development is proposed at multiple locations on the west side.
