Happy New Year!  I am very excited to begin the year as your President & CEO of the St. Charles Chamber of Commerce.  I am humbled and privileged by this opportunity and I look forward to serving you and this great community that I am proud to call my home.

While I have been a resident of this community for some time now and have had the opportunity to meet some of you, several of which have become trusted friends and neighbors, there are many others that I haven’t met and thought it appropriate to share a little bit about myself.

I grew up in the Northwest side of Chicago, in the small village of Harwood Heights, where I lived with my parents and two siblings, one sister and one brother.   I am the middle child … I know some of you may be thinking, “does he suffer from the middle child syndrome”?  Well, I don’t think so and I’d prefer to believe a more recent research study, published by Readers Digest, that suggests middle children develop personality traits that help them succeed in jobs and relationships even quicker than older and younger siblings.  In fact, the article suggests that middle children make strong leaders and make the best friends.  I do hope they are right, as leadership and building and managing relationships will be at the center of my new role and responsibilities and a critical success factor.

I have one daughter, Celina, who I highly admire and she is full of life.  She is a graduate of St. Charles East High School and has an associate’s degree in visual communications from The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, Los Angeles.  She is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in musical theatre and business, with a concentration in fashion, from Columbia College, Chicago.

I attended DePaul University, in Chicago, where I received an undergraduate degree in accounting; went on to obtain my CPA, and subsequently received a MBA in Management and Finance.  I have over 30 years of Financial Services experience, having held several leadership positions throughout my career.   I’ve been told that I’m a strategic thinker with strong ability to execute.  Over the past few years, I had responsibility for leading the strategy and execution of the organization’s customer experience discipline and I am passionate about it too.  I believe everything begins and ends with the customer.  To that end, as members or I would like to think of you as  “customers” of the Chamber of Commerce, I will bring my experience and passion to you, as well.

From a community perspective, I am passionate about community involvement and giving back.  I have served on several non-for-profit boards and committees and am actively engaged in community outreach efforts with my church, as well.  In the words of Denzel Washington, “at the end of the day it’s not about what you have or even what you’ve accomplished…it’s about who you’ve lifted up, who you’ve made better.  It’s about what you’ve given back.”

Well that’s a little about me and I look forward to meeting and working with all of you.  In partnership with our City, Civic, community & business leaders, I am excited to be a part of helping to make St. Charles a great place for businesses to grow and prosper.

".... through my consistent involvement in the Young Professionals Committee and various chamber events and mixers, it took me almost 8 months to truly feel at home and part of this community. Simply put, building relationships takes time – and it is so worth the patience and persistence!

"… being on a chamber  committee I have grown relationships with several people, both on and off my committee.  I believe these relationships will continue to grow and we will all prosper ... either financially, by learning or both"
